In 2003, Mophonics was born a block from the beach in the heart of Venice, CA. In a simpler time before kale shots and bitcoin, we were a modest boutique operation with indie label sensibilities and international flavor.

Over the next decade, we grew our team by finding and developing up-and-coming writers and artists, and became key creative catalysts in what would become their Oscar and Grammy-winning, platinum selling careers. Our artist-focused orientation continues to this day and drives our thirst for creating real music that begs to live outside the TV screen.

We’ve since outgrown our original Venice studios, and are located in a converted warehouse in Playa Vista, just down the street from many of the same agencies we worked with since our early years. Today, Mophonics houses 2,000sq ft of recording studios, and a further 10,000sq ft of modular space - Playa Studios - used for a wide range of production shoots, brand activations, and events.

We opened Mophonics New York in 2007 to be closer to our East Coast clients. Perched atop a Gramercy penthouse, our New York office is equipped with recording studios, VO booth, recording lounge, and rooftop terrace overlooking the city.

In addition to the vibrant and prolific in-house composing, recording, and producing, we’ve established Mophonics NY as a unique spot to see and hear live music, ranging from exclusive, intimate sessions, to filmed sets, to live streaming performances. We’ve hosted a slew of sessions featuring the likes of Bruno Mars, Andre3000, Walk the Moon, Kimbra, among others.
